Indoor unit, outdoor vault or locker?
Start with two questions: what are you storing, and how often will you need it? The answers usually point straight to the right type of space.
Indoor units
The best fit for household contents, furniture, boxes, paperwork and stock that needs to stay clean and dry. Every indoor unit at Castle is on the ground floor, so there are no stairs or lifts between your vehicle and your door, and trolleys and pallet trucks are free to use. Businesses often use a unit as a stockroom or an archive. Limited companies generally have to keep their accounting records for six years, and gov.uk sets out what has to be kept, so a unit is a simple way to get those boxes out of the office.
Outdoor vaults
The best fit when you’ll be in and out a lot, or the load is awkward: tools for the working week, garden machinery, camping gear, paddle boards. You drive right up to the door, so there’s no carrying anything across a yard. The vaults are weather-resistant and sit behind the same electric gates and monitored CCTV as the rest of the site.
Small lockers
Our smallest spaces start at 25 sq ft, roughly the contents of a garden shed or around 54 medium boxes. They suit seasonal bits, a few pieces of furniture, or files you want out of the house without paying for more room than you need.
Motorbikes
Bikes can go in an indoor unit or an outdoor vault, with your helmets, leathers and tools stored alongside. If yours is coming off the road and won’t be taxed while it’s here, remember to make a SORN with the DVLA before you lay it up.
Still not sure? Give the office a ring and tell us roughly what you have. The team will happily advise on the right fit.
Unit sizes and what fits
We have eight indoor unit sizes, starting at 25 sq ft. These six are the ones people ask about most. Box counts and van loads are rough guides, so treat them as a starting point.

How storing with us works
01.
Pick a size and reserve it
Work out roughly what you need, or call the office for a second opinion, then reserve the unit or vault that suits you.
02.
Pack and load up
Boxes, bubble wrap, tape and padlocks are all sold at reception. Need a hand with the move? We can recommend trusted local removal firms, and our delivery partners offer Castle customers discounted rates.
03.
Check in and move in the same day
Bring photo ID and a bank card for the first payment. You’ll get your own access fob, fit your padlock, and from then on you’re the only keyholder.
04.
Leave when you're ready
Give us a week’s notice and hand back your fob. Any unused storage you’ve paid for is refunded.
Security you can come and see
Storage is only worth paying for if your things are safe while they’re here. The Hapton site is covered by more than 50 CCTV cameras, monitored 24/7 and linked to the local station, with an alarm system protecting the site.
Getting in takes an electric gate, Paxton video entry and your own fob. Every unit is locked with a padlock you bring or buy at reception, so nobody else holds a key to your space, not even us.
If you’d like to look round before you book, pop in during office hours and see it for yourself.
Access and office hours
The office is open Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm, Friday [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: Friday opening, 9am or 9:30am] to 1pm, and Saturday 10am to 1pm.
Outside those hours, extended access by fob is available on request, seven days a week, from early morning to late evening. A refundable deposit applies to an out-of-hours fob, so just ask when you book.
Prices, terms and paying
- 1 week minimum stay, and no maximum
- Invoiced monthly in advance
- Pay by bank transfer, standing order, card in store or over the phone
- No booking fees and no deposit on the unit
- No price hikes after 12 weeks

Storing for the long haul? Ask about our discounts for long-term storage.
One thing to sort before you move in is insurance. It’s standard practice to insure goods in storage, because events like fire or flood sit outside anyone’s control. We don’t sell insurance ourselves, but we can recommend specialist providers.
Help on moving day
Getting everything in is usually the hard part, so the site is set up to make it easier.
- Plenty of on-site parking, with large loading areas for vans and lorries
- Trolleys and pallet trucks, free for customers to use
- Forklifts on site, operated by our trained staff
- Business deliveries accepted by arrangement and held securely until you collect
- Boxes, tape, bubble wrap and padlocks for sale at reception
What you can't store
Almost anything clean and dry can go into storage, from sofas and white goods to stock, tools and archive boxes. A few things can’t, for everyone’s safety:
- Flammable, toxic or corrosive chemicals
- Explosives or hazardous materials
- Food or anything perishable
- Waste of any kind
- Stolen or illegal items
- Animals, living or dead
If you’re unsure about something, check with the office before you bring it.
